RENEE MONTAGNE, host:
Good morning. I'm Renee Montagne with some New Year's numbers for you. Seven thousand pounds of confetti will fall over New York's Times Square on Sunday to celebrate the New Year.
The glittery blizzard will be accompanied by fireworks, music and the celebratory descent of a 1,000-pound crystal ball. It took over a 100 people to make the confetti. Organizers are doing a test-run today. They dropped confetti from an eighth floor office in Manhattan to verify its airworthiness.
It's MORNING EDITION.
