STEVE INSKEEP, host:
Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep.
In the old sitcom "Roseanne," John Goodman's character saw no point taking down the Christmas tree. Why waste a perfectly good Easter Sunday? The town of Winsted, Connecticut made it past Easter. Not until last week did the town take down its Christmas decorations. Authorities say the ground was too soft to support the ladder truck needed to reach the top of the tree. Also, everybody was busy. They were not, officials insist, procrastinating.
It's MORNING EDITION.
